TY Programees

Each year the UCD School of Physics runs an event, usually in December, aimed at introducing students to Physics. The event for 2023 is in planning and as soon it is open for booking, a link will be posted to the Science Events calendar. In the last few years, this event moved online in order to widen the participation from students all over the country.

CuriosiTY programme

The first of eight STEM placement weeks took place in March 2022 in UCD with twenty four pupils from nine schools across Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford experiencing life in a research environment. Activities on the programme were delivered by postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers from UCD Conway Institute, Systems Biology Ireland and UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology. Environmental Innovators is a new programme organised by Agri Aware for Transition Year students that presents the various challenges that our global food system faces and invites students to investigate innovative solutions. More information is available here.

The UCD School of Music are launching a very exciting new composition competition for schools. The competition is free and open to students from TY to Leaving Cert/A-Levels who are resident anywhere on the island of Ireland. There are 1st, 2nd, 3rd cash prizes and the winning piece will be performed at the NCH by the Composition Ensemble. This is a great opportunity for students interested in music to make their mark.
